I want anything from the 1920s, But it has to be American and a popular trend at that time.dont give me Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, I already know that oneIf there are any Blues that was popular at that time too then you can send me that!

What was a popular dance in the twenties (1920s) and a song that goes with it? Can anyone suggest me a popular dance from the 20s, and a specific song to go with it?Like, which 20s song would you dance the Quickstep to? e_e’ Not the Charleston, though. Help?
The roaring twenties was a time of big bands, swing, and jazz. Some popular dances of the twenties include the Foxtrot, Turkey Trot, Jive, Lindy Hop and Black Bottom and The Peabody.I recommend the music of Ferdinand “Jelly Roll” Morton (1880s – July 10, 1941) He was an American ragtime and early jazz pianist, band leader and composer. Some of his work includes “Jelly Roll Blues,” “New Orleans Blues,” “Frog-I-More Rag,” “Animule Dance” and “King Porter Stomp”Some popular dance music of the 20’s can be found here:folkways.si.edu/AlbumDetails.aspx?itemID=100

Leroy Anderson – Jazz Pizzicato

Leroy Anderson, “Jazz Pizzicato”

Live recording of the concert at Kunsthalle Rostock, 18th of March, 2012 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

in music, how do you spell “picotto” as in short beats or taps on a piano?

Download and print Jazz Pizzicato by Leroy Anderson sheet music

Maybe you mean staccatoadj. 1. Music. Cut short crisply; detached: staccato octaves. 2. Marked by or composed of abrupt, disconnected parts or sounds: staccato applause.n., pl. -tos or -ti (-t?).A staccato manner or sound.[Italian, past participle of staccare, to detach, short for distaccare, from obsolete French destacher, from Old French destachier. See detach.]Orpizzicatoadj. (Abbr. pizz.)Played by plucking rather than bowing the strings.n., pl. -ti (-t?).A pizzicato note or passage.[Italian, past participle of pizzicare, to pluck, from pizzare, to prick, from pizzo, point.]Playing staccato is the opposite of playing legato. A staccato passage for strings does not necessarily have to be pizzicato (though the converse is true). For example, Leroy Anderson’s Jazz Legato/Jazz Pizzicato.

I think the word you’re searching for is staccato. It is an Italian word meaning “separate.” Staccato indicates that the notes are to be played as short as possible, and detached from each other. It is indicated on the music by dots over or under the notes.

What’s this symphony called? youtube.com/watch?v=b4EUyl-LloUThanks.
It’s not a symphony; it’s a relatively very short piece, entitled “Jazz Pizzicato” by Leroy Anderson. Alberich

Strange music symbol on upright bass music? My high school band is practicing for Festival coming up soon, and the guy who plays the string bass asked my band director what the symbol on his music meant. My director said he didn’t know and drew it on the board. It looks like a circle with a line going through the top. He said it was two of the three signs of the deathly hallows. It actually looks just like the power button on an xbox.Just like this, but the circle is fully closed:upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b2/IEC5009_Standby_Symbol.svg/177px-IEC5009_Standby_Symbol.svg.pngAnyone have any idea what this means? XDThanks so much!PS: If it helps, we were playing Lincolnshire Posy, by Grainger
Multiple staccatos. shorthand for the individual articulationsi281.photobucket.com/albums/kk206/ijones_bucket/multi-staccatos.png

It’s a snap pizzicato, also called a Bartok pizzicato. The bass player is to pull the string straight up so that it hits against the fingerboard when it is released. There is a note like that in the bass part of Jazz Pizzicato by Leroy Anderson.(Or was it Plink Plank Plunk? I can’t remember.) The note occurs in a repeated section. When we played that piece in high school, the audience didn’t laugh the first time, but they laughed the second time. They must have thought it was a mistake the first time.

Does this song have lyrics? It’s driving us insane? First, watch this video: youtube.com/watch?v=NGwn0lSUuMk Then, tell me this: is there, in the world, a version of this song with lyrics? Maybe by a 50s/60s girl group? Any info – vague lyrics or anything – would be helpful as we’re about to go insane trying to figure it out!
YES! I remember this song from my childhood, lol, I havent heard it in forever!People refer to it by two different names – “Jave Jive” or “I Love Coffee, I Love Tea” by Milton Drake and Ben Oakland, 1940.Here’s the lyrics:richardthompson-music.com/song_o_matic.asp?id=590I love coffee, I love tea,I love Java Jive and it loves meCoffee and tea and the Java and me,A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!Slip me a slug from the wonderful mugand I’ll cut a rug till I’m snug in the jugA slice of onion and a raw one,Draw one!Waiter, waiter, percolator!I love coffee, I love tea,I love Java Jive and it loves meCoffee and tea and the Java and me,A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup, a cup!Boston beans (soy beans) Those reetie-vootie beans!(cabbage n’ greens)You know that I’m not keen about a bean, unlessit is a chili chili bean, boy.I love coffee, I love tea,I love Java Jive and it loves meCoffee and tea and the Java and me,A cup – a cup – a cup…Blow me a slug from that wonderful mugAnd I’ll cut a rug that’s snug in a jugDrop a nickel in my pot – JoeTakin’ it slowWaiter, waiter percolatorI love coffee, I love tea,I love Java Jive an’ it loves meCoffee and tea and the Java and me,A cup, a cup, a cup, a cup – BOY!Here are several vocal versions of it, they all sound different from the piano sheet music used to teach youngsters and beginners piano duets:youtube.com/watch?v=Y38AGJoGkd0&feature=relatedyoutube.com/watch?v=pULXnVTRynYyoutube.com/watch?v=Z3Zcfn_yUSg&feature=related

Bette Midler “Is That All There Is?”

Bette Midler’s brilliant live in-studio performance of the Lieber & Stoller/Peggy Lee classic. This is a an alternate take, different from the CD version — …

did anyone else think sending Hill of the cubs down and keeping Leiber was a mistake besides me? i was watching the game today. cubs that is. and saw the results of not letting hill stay in the lineup ( he threw a good game in aaa ) and i saw Leiber give up 4 home runs in an inning. they sent hill down when he walked 4. so i thought the smart thing would be to build his confid ence within the team. not to throw hom away to aaa. what do you think

This title is available as instant sheet music download: Leiber: Is That All There Is

I was at the game as well and the Reds rocked Lieber! Heck the whole staff looked awful today, seven home runs! Are you kidding me! Lieber should never have taken over Hill’s spot. Piniella should have his head examined!
thats sports for you-you can never figure out what they do and why they do anything.
its too bad that the cubs are so mismanaged that they did not consult you before sending this guy hill down. i guess you know more than they do.

Can you have dogs at Leiber state park in Indiana? I want to know if you can have dogs at Leiber state lark, also we got a site with electricity, how many outlets do you thing there will be
From the Indiana DNR website concerning State Park rules and regulations:”Dogs and cats must be attended at all times and kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet.”Your electricity question: there are two ‘sizes’ of electric campsites:15/20 amp30 ampAs to how many outlets, here are two opinions which are in agreement:Source 1: For a 20-Amp circuit, you are allowed (.8 x 20 X 120)/ 180 = up to 10 duplex receptacles per circuit. Source 2: Question: Is there a general rule of thumb for the number of outlets/recepticals I should use per run on a 20 amp breaker?Answer: 10, but as you already seem to know, it’s just a rule of thumb. If you have no plans for anything in particular to plug in to these receptacles (e.g., probably just lamps, televisions, and the occasional vacuum cleaner), then 10 is fine. If you have plans for some space heaters and power-hungry appliances or tools, you might consider less than ten, maybe a lot less than ten.If I were you, I would plan on there being only 2 plug ins available, and then tote along a power strip so you can have 4 or 5 outlets out of one of the two available spots just in case you want a radio and an air pump and your crockpot or whatever all at once. While googling for an answer, I also read a camper’s diary that stated that the electric sites at Lieber have the benefit of having more shade.Hope you have a blast and are so busy having fun in the great outdoors that you don’t have to even think about plugging things in.

Is the real test of whether you’ve arrived as a big time author when spell check knows your name? Anyone else ever find it interesting what your online spell check is programmed to accept as correct some proper names? That it has a correct way to spell Asimov, but no opinion on how to spell Leiber?
I never thought about that, but it is cool that Hemingway and Steinbeck are there as well as Dumbledore.

As a rock & roll fan of the 50s – 60s, can you recall some songs by Leiber & Stoller? Jerry Leiber – age 78 – died yesterday. He was a wonderful lyricist.Yakety Yak by the Coasters
I remember the “Hound Dog” Elvis..they were on some talk show last year though..they were good writers..the American Idol kids sang some of those song too..another one I remember it “Stand by Me”.so sad to see them go..R.I.P.

I never heard of them either, UNKNOWN, but I certainly recognize the titles of their songs mentioned here! Many of them were my favorites. Songwriters just don’t get as much of the public’s attention as the singers do.

These are my favourite ones.Fools Fall in Love – The original by the Drifters 1958Bossa Nova Baby – The 1963 version by ElvisThey wrote so many fantastic songs for many recording artists, brilliant music!

Should the Cubs switch Jason Marquis and Jon Leiber? Should they put Marquis in the pen as the longman and Leiber in the 5th spot in the rotation?
Well.when the Cubs do get Lieber back he will probly be a little rusty till the end of the season so i dont think thats the best idea. Plus Jon Lieber is getting up there and i dont think he can consistently go 6 or 7 innings.Jason Marquis is at least giving us a chance to win ballgames. He isnt doing terrible But if he starts doing terrible then I bet Sean Marshall will replace him because Lou really likes Sean MarshallSo Marquis isnt doing the best, but he isnt really bad, and if he starts to slip, Sean Marshall will most likely replace him because Jon Lieber is just coming off an injury and is getting pretty old.*I get annoyed with him giving up a lot of runs early too but we usually come back so I think we should give him a chance

well its not as if jason marquis has been awful, like 7 runs in 3 innings or something like that. I actually don’t mind marquis being the 5th starter because hes usually matched up against the other teams worst pitcher, and the offense should generally score some runs when hes on the mound. As long as marquis doesn’t implode when he pitches, i’m alright with what he does. But if they were to replace him i would imagine it would be with sean marshall, not jon lieber.

Didn’t you already try Lieber? Whats next marshall? You tried all those scenerios and none of them worked. LOL, you dont know anything

Pat Metheny – Into The Dream

Pat Metheny at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1999. He plays a 42-string Pikasso guitar.

Do you Listen to Micheal Hedges-Acoustics? I am a Fan of Micheal Hedges. He is also a vocalist in some of his acoustic artistry, but I enjoy most His solo acoustics .”Rickovers Dream”, Beach Dreams ect.what is your overall thought about his work, and what other fav’s of your’s comes within this realm.I;m a enthusist within solo guitarists.Hi there bedros,,yes, you are correct with Micheal’s passing in 1997. He named his own compositions”Heavy Mental”, “New Edge” and “Acoustic Thrash.Thank you for recommending Steve Howe, (Yes) and Pat Metheny. I will check them out. Will get back to you.

Back in the early eighty’s I was listening to a rock station in Pittsburgh PA, they where advertising for the Windham Hill Summer Concert Tour. I’ve never heard of Windham HillI, and I suspect the people at the radio station hadn’t either. They probably played the commercial because the promoter of the show mostly promoted rock concerts and advertised on that station. I heard a guitar sound in the commercial that really attracted my attention, and upon that fact alone did I purchase a ticket. It was at the show I discovered who played the awesome guitar work I heard in the commercial; Michael Hedges. Among his own compositions he did an awesome cover of Neil Young’s After The Goldrush where a fretless bass plays the lead. It was one of the few songs where Michael played with another musician.

Hi there.I like what I have heard by Michael Hedges. I forgot about his vocals. but now I remember his version of “All along the Watchtower”. I like. Someone once nicknamed his work “Heavy Mental”. I really like his acoustic stuff devoid of vocal: the guitar just sort of sings the song. I think he passed away.. if I remember correctly.Did you ever hear Pat Metheny’s acoustic music? I’m not into his early stuff (jazz/fusion. but I like the acoustic work. much more melodic. If you like Michael, you may like Steve Howe’s (guitarist for Yes) solo stuff (no vocals for the most part). He may be my favorite in recent years.I like your taste. I need to check out Van still.bedros

what’s the name of Pat Metheny song played on weird looking guitar with strings going in all directions? first song he played on the austin city limits episode 7 years ago??
I think you’re thinking of “Into the Dream”, which features Metheny’s incredible 42-string, three neck Pikasso guitar. He also plays the guitar on a few other albums, but that’s his most famous song with it.Here’s a clip of him playing the song live:youtube.com/watch?v=3XYkcNmdQu0Hope this helps!
