In voice, what grade is la Habanera by Bizet? I’m planning to sing la Habanera from Carmen by Bizet (in french) and I would like to know what level it is (preferably ABRSM)Thank you!

You can download the score from the video: Habanera (Bizet)

It’s not in the syllabus for ABRSM. You’d need to pick from their existing selection. abrsm.org/regions/fileadmin/user_upload/syllabuses/singingComplete11.pdf

What are the lyrics to habanera from Bizet’s “Carmen”? I’ve looked at one, but it was in french.
Translation:When will I love you? Good lord, I don?t know,Maybe never, maybe tomorrow. But not today, that?s certain.Love is a rebellious birdThat nothing can tame,And it is simply in vain to call itIf it is convient for it to refuse.Nothing will work, threat or pleading,One speaks, the other stays quiet; And it?s the other that I preferHe said nothing; but he pleases me.Love! love! love! love!Love is the child of the bohemian,It has never, never known any law,If you don?t love me, I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! If you don?t love me,If you don?t love me, I love you! But, if I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! If you don?t love me,If you don?t love me, I love you! But, if I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! The bird you thought to surpriseBat it?s wing and flew away;Love is far away, you can wait for it;If you wait for it no more, it is there! All around you, quickly, quickly,It comes, goes, then it comes back! You think to hold it, it avoids you;You think to avoid it, it holds you!Love, love, love, love!Love is the child of the bohemian,It has never, never known any law,If you don?t love me, I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! If you don?t love me, I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! If you don?t love me,If you don?t love me, I love you! But, if I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself! If you don?t love me,If you don?t love me, I love you! But, if I love you,If I love you, keep guard of yourself!

What movies feature the song Habanera by Bizet (from Carmen)? I heard it in UP. I am also convinced I heard it in another movie but i don’t remember which one. This is gunna bother me forever. >.< help please! Just the instrumental. Thanks! 🙂
Nuns on the Run has that piece done by Yello. It may show up in The Bad News Bears, but I think it uses another part of Carmen.

Carmen of Bizet, Habanera Adaptation? Las day I was at some club and a song started to play, It was very funny and then I realized that it was a Habanera adaptation from the Opera Carmen of Bizet, it is a Pop Song, can somebody help me? =D
What movie has Habanera by Bizet in it? I remember a movie a while back that had a cover of this song in it. The main character (female) sings it at the end, its a very upbeat version. I think it was a showcase for a school or something along those lines. I can’t for the life of me remember what movie it is. Help please.I remembered a bit more about the movie, its concentrated around the main female character and her mom who have just moved into this new place so that the daughter can go to this music school. It definitely doesn’t have beyonce in it (sorry)
Any songs like Habanera? Ok so during Winter Break I want to practice sight-reading. I’ve mastered my music theory book in a day (Essentials Elements: Violin Intermediate, i believe). It was great practice. But I really love seductive songs like Habanera by Bizet. I want to impress people when I play. I’m good (I can handle vibrato quite well) and have been playing for 3 years, this is my 4th. So, if any of you know any songs similar to that, please leave a suggestion below. And by mastered, I mean the tough rhythms at the end (my weakness in sight-reading). I can already shift so I considered all the other things irrelavent.
popcorn, get fluent in sightreading by beatin the crap out of it,its important, the flow of instant absorptionof 2-3 -5 measures at a time comes to most by mucho practise, get a set of flash cards, learn to copy what you hear on lose leaf notepaper,on blank scale pages and lined only.now,to habaners,go out & get a cd maybe in a thrift shop,by nana mouskouri, she was a pop recording artist in the 60s 70s,80s,,,,,her glasses were a neat trademark,,she recorded an album called ‘classical nana’,habanera is included,& other opera solos, habanera she recorded above the mezzolevel,in terms of expression, minus a couple phrases she has to catch her breath,it is a beautiful recording,I play this on guitar,in key of D,with a female companion,I used to be able to play this tremelo as in recuerdos de la ahlambre, but I can no longer,b/c of motor neuron diseaseanother piece you might try is o sole mio, again, you might try this as a duo with accompaniementit lends itself to the rhythm of habanera, pum,pa PUM! pa! pumal de meola recorded blue spanish eyes years ago, on splendido hotel,al is argentinian and this showsalso try la traviata by verdi,,using vibrato on the intro, with arpeggiation as harmonyin the style of variations on habanera by whose name I forget

If you could find someone else flower duet(from lakme) composed by Delibes is so nice . Queen of the night from magic flute is good too but is hard . Have you tried sarah brightman’s works? They are good too. And schubert’s ave maria is very good and impresses people but clearly isn’t seductive!

Try “El Arreglito” by Sebastián Yradier. Bizet composed the habanera as an adaptation of this song, thinking it was a folk song.
